Kanu’s Lawyer Accuses DSS Of Medical Cover Up

One of Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyers, Barrister Onyedikachi Ifedi, has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of mishandling the health of the detained IPOB leader through “propaganda, concealment, and medical quackery.”

In a statement on Thursday, Ifedi said the DSS has been evasive about Kanu’s medical condition while allegedly imposing doctors with “questionable credentials” on his client’s medical team. He described one of them as “a quack” who lacked knowledge of the dangers of potassium depletion.

The lawyer questioned why the DSS would send Kanu’s blood samples to South Africa for analysis if, as it claims, nothing was wrong with him. He also accused the agency of lacking the expertise to manage serious conditions such as aortic valve regurgitation and congestive heart failure.

“A security agency that does not understand the implications of these conditions has no business managing the healthcare of a man whose life is already endangered by detention,” he said.

Ifedi challenged the DSS to hold an open press conference where independent doctors and journalists could assess Kanu’s health. He further alleged that doctors were being pressured to alter medical reports and accused courts in Abuja of bias against the IPOB leader.

He vowed that Kanu’s legal team would continue to expose what he described as government falsehoods before Nigerians and the international community.
