Shettima To Represent Nigeria At UN General Assembly

Vice President Kashim Shettima will head Nigeria’s delegation to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, scheduled from September 22 to 28, 2025.

According to the presidency, Shettima will represent President Bola Tinubu at the gathering, which also marks the 80th anniversary of the UN. He will join global leaders for the high-level debates opening on September 23 and running through September 28.

Nigeria’s national statement will be delivered by Shettima on September 24, during an evening session at the UN headquarters. On the same day, he will attend a climate event hosted by the UN Secretary-General, where Nigeria is expected to announce its new climate commitments under the Paris Agreement.

The vice president will also take part in a roundtable on affordable housing hosted by the Kenyan president and hold bilateral talks with other world leaders on issues of mutual interest.

After the UN meetings, Shettima will continue to Frankfurt, Germany, for discussions with officials of Deutsche Bank before returning home.
