ADC Vows To Take Aso Rock And Lagos In 2027

The African Democratic Congress has declared its readiness to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections, with a pledge to take over the presidency and Lagos State.

The party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration in Lagos during an event where Moshood Salvador, leader of the Conscience Forum within the Labour Party, formally defected to the ADC with his members. The gathering also doubled as the 25th anniversary of the Conscience Forum.

The event drew ADC leaders in Lagos, ward and zonal representatives of the Conscience Forum across the state’s 20 local government areas and 37 LCDAs, as well as supporters of both groups.

Aregbesola described the defection as a major boost to the ADC’s strength ahead of 2027. He said the party was determined to capture both Aso Rock and Alausa, urging the new members to spread the ADC’s message with a “multiply by ten” strategy to ensure nationwide support.

According to him, the ADC has the structure and momentum to challenge the status quo and deliver a new government at both the federal and state levels. He maintained that the Conscience Forum’s entry into the party showed the appeal of the ADC as a credible alternative.

On his part, Salvador said the Labour Party no longer represented a viable platform for the future, citing unresolved internal crises. He noted that the Conscience Forum, with its claimed 400,000 members in Lagos, decided to move into the ADC as part of a coalition working toward a stronger national political force.

He explained that the group’s structure, including officers at the ward and LGA levels, would now operate fully within the ADC, assuring that the decision was taken to secure a political future for its members.

The defection and the party’s declaration come as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, setting the stage for fierce competition in Lagos and at the national level.
