Okpebholo Orders Cultists And kidnappers Out Of Edo

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has ordered cult groups, kidnappers and other criminals to vacate the state or face strict security action.

The directive comes as the government intensifies its fight against crime and insecurity across communities.

The warning followed the demolition of a building in Egbaen community, Egor Local Government Area, after security operatives discovered it was being used for cult initiation and ritual practices. The operation was led by the Edo State Special Security Squad, known as Operation Flush Out Cultists and Kidnappers, working alongside security agencies and community leaders.

According to the security team, the demolished bungalow was linked to Marvelous Adetarami, identified as a leader of the Maphite cult group. The building reportedly served as both a shrine and meeting point for criminal activities.

Authorities explained that the property had earlier been sealed after suspicions of cult and ritual activities. However, fresh intelligence showed that the suspects returned at night to continue their gatherings, prompting the government to pull down the structure.

Residents of the area expressed relief, saying the demolition ended a source of constant fear. Many described the move as a long-awaited step toward restoring safety in the community.

The state government assured citizens of its commitment to creating a safe and law-abiding environment that supports peace and development. Officials urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
