The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, on Saturday led a spectacular regatta to Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Iwere (Itsekiri) nation, as part of activities marking his 4th coronation anniversary.

The royal red boat of the monarch led a fleet of decorated vessels across the waterways, each boat representing different Itsekiri communities and families. The colourful procession was described as both a cultural celebration and a reaffirmation of the strength and unity of the kingdom.
