The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended former governor and senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, along with one of his allies, Kunle Folarin, over alleged anti-party activities.

The party’s Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, saying the decision followed a review of reports submitted by disciplinary committees set up in their respective wards in Sagamu Local Government Area.

Daniel, a member of Ward 4, and Folarin from Ward 6, were accused of misconduct and anti-party actions. The statement noted that both men were invited to appear before their ward committees to defend themselves but failed to respond, either in writing or in person.

According to the party, the committees proceeded with the hearings, taking evidence from witnesses and reviewing documents. It added that there were reports the suspended members tried to intimidate fellow party members and pressured them to withdraw petitions filed against them.
Following their refusal to cooperate with the probe and alleged interference in the process, the committees recommended their suspension. The State Working Committee, led by chairman Yemi Sanusi, ratified the decision at its meeting on Tuesday.
Olufemi said the move was necessary to protect the integrity of the party’s disciplinary process and maintain internal order. He added that the suspension remains indefinite, pending further investigations and the outcome of the inquiry.
