The Federal Government has restated its commitment to supplying gas from Nigeria to Togo, Benin Republic, and Ghana as part of efforts to reduce energy poverty and boost economic growth in the West African sub-region.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, gave the assurance on Tuesday in Abuja during a meeting with the outgoing and incoming Managing Directors of the West African Gas Pipeline Company. He said the current administration views gas supply to neighbouring countries as a priority, with the aim of improving access to energy and driving regional development.

As Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the West African Gas Pipeline, Ekpo pointed to ongoing progress in Nigeria’s gas sector under President Bola Tinubu. He noted that the country has made headway in building infrastructure, cutting gas flaring, and expanding supply for export and domestic needs.

Bodunrin, in his response, said his focus will be on ensuring uninterrupted gas supply from Nigeria for delivery to consumers in the region, and called for strong collaboration with the government to achieve this objective.
