The campaign launch took place on Saturday, starting from Amawbia Bridge near Awka and ending at Washington Grammar School in Onitsha. Supporters, including tricycle riders and grassroots mobilisers, sang and danced through major streets. The event also served to rally support for the party’s candidate in the August 16 Onitsha North 1 constituency by-election, Njideka Ndiwe.

Chukwuma told the crowd that the coming elections would shape Anambra’s direction for years to come. He said the killing of former state lawmaker Justice Azuka was a painful example of how unsafe the state had become. He urged voters to use the polls to bring a new era of leadership and development.

He also called on Onitsha North residents to support Ndiwe, who is the late lawmaker’s sister, to continue his work and finish the projects he had planned before his death. The candidate assured that under YPP’s leadership, safety and confidence would be restored to communities.

Okagbue dismissed claims that the YPP lacked strong contenders, saying the election would be decided by voters and not by political predictions. He expressed confidence that the party’s message of hope and change would win the trust of the people.

The YPP state chairman, Cletus Obi, urged citizens to turn out in large numbers for both the by-election and the governorship vote. He said the party’s campaign would reach every corner of the state to connect directly with the people and share its plans for a better Anambra.
