The University of Ilorin will on July 16, 2025, honour 65 distinguished Nigerians as part of activities marking its Golden Jubilee celebration.
The event, themed “Investiture Ceremony of Unilorin Ambassadors, Distinguished Alumni, and Award of Excellence,” will take place at the university auditorium by 11 a.m.
Among the honourees are former UNILORIN Vice Chancellor and current JAMB Registrar, Prof. Emeritus Is’haq Oloyede; Dr. Tunji Olowolafe; Prof. Temidayo Oladiji, Vice Chancellor of FUTA; former NLNG MD, Mr. Babatunde Omotowa; and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mrs. Kemi Nandap.
Also on the list are former CBN Deputy Governor, Dr. Sarah Alade; Thisday MD, Mr. Eniola Bello; Prof. Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, former VC of University of Abuja; and Justice Asmau Tanwa Akanbi.
According to the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the event will recognise individuals who have excelled in their careers, elevated the university’s image, and contributed to its growth.
The chairman of the Awards Planning Committee, Prof. AbdulRasheed Adeoye, explained that one alumnus and one distinguished Nigerian will receive the Award of Excellence, 10 will be honoured as Distinguished Alumni, while 50 others and three graduating sets will be named UNILORIN Ambassadors.
UNILORIN Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), will serve as chief host, while renowned legal scholar Mallam Olaolu Ali (SAN) is billed to deliver the keynote address.
