Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has accused the Tinubu-led administration of plotting to use the courts to stall the party’s growing momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking in Abuja during a meeting with the ADC National Legal Support Group, Mark said the ruling party might resort to legal tactics to undermine the opposition’s chances.

“The ADC is the party to beat in 2027. The current administration may attempt to use the courts to frustrate our momentum,” he warned.

The party’s legal team, led by Abdullahi Abdurrahman, said over 310 lawyers have volunteered to defend the ADC in any legal battles nationwide. According to him, the team has active representatives in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Prominent figures on the legal team include the party’s Legal Adviser, Barrister Peter Oyewole, former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami (SAN), and legal scholar and ex-Edo governor, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor.
Abdurrahman said the team is “fully mobilised” to take on challenges the ADC may face, calling the party a growing force in Nigerian politics. He also urged Oyewole to provide updates and legal documents to aid the team’s work.
Oyewole dismissed fears of internal legal issues, assuring that the coalition process which formed the new-look ADC was “legally sound.”
Mark praised the legal team for their commitment and called on Nigerians to support the ADC as a credible and patriotic alternative.
With increasing grassroots support and a robust legal structure, the ADC says it is ready to challenge the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2027.
