There is a growing tension right now around the premises of the Lagos State House of Assembly as operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force sealed the offices of Speaker Mojisola Meranda, her deputy, and the clerk.
Our correspondent also noticed the presence of a small crowd around the Alausa location of the assembly, seemingly followers of some yet ascertained politicians.
The situation may not be unconnected with the furore raised by the recent impeachment of estranged member Mudasiru Obasa who was impeached as house speaker in January.
By 10 a.m. on Monday, armed security personnel swooped on the premises of the house, conducting thorough checks on individuals in the vicinity.
Several onlookers are at the House, observing the situation as security personnel attached to the Speaker guard the area.
