Contrary to claim by the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, that owner of the collapsed Ikoyi, Lagos building got approval to construct 21 floors, a document from the Ministry of Physical Planning signed in 2019 has indicated that 15 floor was approved for construction.
The Deputy Governor had contradicted the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), General Manager, Gbolahan Oki, who said 15-storey was approved by telling the press that 21-storey was actually approved by the State Government.
Hamzat had told reporters at the scene of the mishap yesterday, that truly the 21-storey was approved.
However, WazobiaReporters is in possession of a document from the Ministry of Physical Planning signed in 2019, indicating that 15 floor was approved for construction.
This has also lent credence that Oki is being used as a ‘fall guy’ by the action of Lagos state Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, suspending him indefinitely.
Lagosians asking for a Probe Panel may not know what actually transpired and those responsible for the criminal negligence that has claimed 21 precious lives so far while the search for more bodies continue.
