The governor, who was represented by the Director-General of Interfaith, Malam Tahir Umar Tahir, said the vehicles were intended to strengthen religious organisations’ efforts to promote peace in Kaduna State and the country at large.

Tahir also alleged that some politicians who anticipated electoral defeat were planning to disrupt public peace before, during or after the forthcoming elections.

He recalled that the First Aid Group of Fityanul Islam had requested six buses to support its peacebuilding activities during its national seminar and award ceremony in August.

According to him, the governor initially promised to provide four buses, with two allocated to the group’s national body and the other two to its Kaduna State chapter.

Tahir explained that Sani subsequently extended the gesture to the First Aid Groups of other Islamic sects and the Boys Brigade of the Christian faith.

He said the governor also directed that the Kaduna chapters of JNI and CAN be included in the distribution, with each organisation receiving a Hummer bus.

Other Islamic sects and Christian groups under CAN were also approved to receive vehicles to support their religious activities.

The Director-General added that Christian denominations and Islamic groups not covered in the current distribution would be considered in subsequent donations.

Tahir said Sani had maintained relationships with different Islamic and Christian organisations since assuming office more than three years ago.

He added that the governor worked with religious leaders to ensure that members of both faiths benefited from government programmes, including free fertiliser distribution and political appointments.

Tahir urged religious leaders and adherents to pray for the governor, citing the teachings of Islam and Christianity on praying for those who extend goodwill and those in positions of leadership.

He also appealed to them to support Sani’s re-election, expressing confidence that the governor would achieve more during a second term.

Representatives of the Kaduna chapters of JNI and CAN thanked the governor for the donations and pledged to continue praying for peace and development in the state.
