The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 17 chairmanship positions in the local government elections conducted across Yobe State on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The results were announced on Sunday at the headquarters of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC) in Damaturu.

YOSIEC Chairman, Dr Ibrahim Mohammad Yabani, described the election as successful and said voting took place across the state’s 178 electoral wards and 17 local government areas.
According to him, 10 political parties participated in the election and fielded candidates for both chairmanship and councillorship positions.
The results showed APC candidates winning the chairmanship contests in all 17 local government areas.
In Bade, Musa Kalan Dagona secured 54,312 votes, while the APC candidate in Bursari polled 24,331 votes. Bukar Adamu won in Damaturu with 18,465 votes, while Abdulmumini Usaini secured 61,326 votes in Fika.
Baba Goni Bade won Fune with 74,411 votes, while Mohammed Musa secured 35,832 votes in Geidam. Dala Mala won Gujba with 27,900 votes, and Dayyabu Ilu emerged victorious in Gulani with 35,999 votes.

Yabani said votes were counted and collated after polling ended, with councillorship results announced at the ward level and chairmanship results declared at the respective local government collation centres.
Although the APC won all the chairmanship positions, opposition parties recorded two councillorship victories.
The Action Peoples Party (APP) won one councillorship seat in Fune Local Government Area, while the Action Democratic Party (ADP) secured another councillorship seat in Karasuwa.
The YOSIEC chairman said the participation of 10 political parties reflected the level of competition in various parts of the state during the election.
