Osun: Adeleke’s Aide Killed In Motor Park Leadership Dispute

Tension has risen in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, following the reported killing of Dauda Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir, an aide and associate of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Oyeyemi was reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Sunday amid a dispute over the leadership of a motor park in the state.

The deceased was said to have been seeking control of the park, which is currently headed by Wakili Nurudeen, popularly known as Alowonle. The development reportedly led to growing tension between the two groups.

Oyeyemi was said to have attended a meeting at Mayfair Motor Park with members of his group as part of efforts to resolve the leadership dispute.

However, masked gunmen reportedly arrived at the venue during the meeting and shot Oyeyemi in the head.

The attack reportedly caused panic as members of both the Emir and Alowonle groups fled the area. A vehicle carrying some members of the Emir group was also said to have crashed near Campus Gate while they were attempting to escape.

The incident later caused further tension around Oyeyemi’s base in the Asoje area of Osogbo, where his associates were reportedly angered by his death.

Some of the deceased’s associates accused the Alowonle faction of involvement in the killing, but the allegation had not been independently confirmed.

Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed the incident and called on security agencies to investigate the killing, identify those responsible and ensure that they are prosecuted.
