APC Challenges ADC Over Allegations Of Financial Mismanagement By State Govt

The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected concerns raised by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over the management of the state’s finances, pointing to projects carried out by Governor Nasir Idris’ administration across different sectors.

The APC’s response followed questions from the ADC regarding the implementation of Kebbi’s 2025 budget and the differences between the state’s projected and actual revenue and expenditure.

Speaking to journalists at the party secretariat in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, the Acting APC Chairman, Adamu Mudi Augi, listed several projects and programmes implemented by the state government.

Among them, he mentioned the dualisation of the Birnin Kebbi-Ambursa Road, renovation and rehabilitation of schools, the establishment of science and skills-based boarding schools, provision of textbooks and recruitment of teachers.

Augi also pointed to developments in the health sector, including the upgrading of hospitals and primary healthcare centres, recruitment of health personnel and construction of the 250-unit Kauran Gwandu Housing Estate.

He said the government had also taken steps to support agriculture by distributing fertiliser and improved seeds to farmers, as well as providing solar-powered irrigation pumps.

The APC’s defence comes after the Kebbi State Government previously dismissed allegations of financial mismanagement concerning its N580.33 billion 2025 budget.

The government had explained that the gap between projected and actual revenue represented revenue that was not realised during the year and did not indicate that funds had gone missing.

It also said spending was adjusted in response to revenue shortfalls, with nearly N240 billion reportedly spent during the year, including more than N152 billion on capital projects.

Responding to the ADC’s concerns, Augi urged the opposition party to assess the government based on its projects, policies and performance rather than focusing solely on financial projections.

He said residents could assess the impact of the administration’s programmes by examining the projects being executed across the state.
