Ortom said his support for Tinubu was a deliberate political decision rather than a development he regretted.

The former governor made the disclosure during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday.

He said he had openly declared his support for Tinubu after his former colleague in the G5 governors’ group, Nyesom Wike, was appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Ortom recalled that he backed Obi during the 2023 presidential election but changed his position after Tinubu won the election and became president.

The former governor said he had earlier stated that some politicians who supported Obi in 2023 would back Tinubu in 2027.

He explained that his decision followed the outcome of the 2023 election and his subsequent choice to align with the administration led by Tinubu.

Ortom maintained that he had no regrets about supporting the president and remained committed to his position ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
