The movement said the event would mark the start of its grassroots mobilisation programme ahead of the 2027 presidential election, as it works to build wider support for Tinubu across the region.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the group’s Zonal Secretary, Awoyinfa Opeoluwa, said the mobilisation was designed to rally supporters behind Tinubu and promote the continuation of his administration beyond 2027.

The group said the walk would also provide an avenue for its members to publicly demonstrate their backing for the President and draw more people into its campaign structure.

Participants are expected to carry posters and banners during the walk as the group seeks to create awareness about Tinubu’s administration and its policies.

The movement said it plans to use the campaign to strengthen its presence at the grassroots level across the six states of the South-West. It also described the region as an important part of its mobilisation strategy ahead of the next presidential election.

According to the group, the campaign will focus on promoting what it considers the administration’s efforts in areas such as economic development, governance and national unity.

The planned mobilisation comes amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties, support groups and various organisations already beginning to organise their structures and reach out to voters.

Tinubu won the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress and is seeking another four-year term in office.

His administration has faced criticism over the rising cost of living, inflation and the effects of economic reforms introduced since he assumed office. Opposition politicians and some Nigerians have continued to raise concerns about the impact of the policies on households and businesses.

Supporters of the President, however, argue that the reforms are aimed at addressing long-standing economic problems and creating conditions for stronger growth over time.

The South-West is expected to play an important role in Tinubu’s 2027 campaign because of his longstanding political base in the region and his connection to Lagos, where he built much of his political career.

The PBAT Door-To-Door Movement said Wednesday’s event would be the first phase of a wider grassroots campaign that would continue across the region as the 2027 election approaches.

The group urged its members and supporters to take part in the walk and remain active in its mobilisation efforts aimed at securing Tinubu’s return to office for a second term.
