‘I’m A Bulldozer’, Not Afraid of FG, Governors Backing APC Candidate — Adeleke

Accord Party governorship candidate and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said he is not intimidated by the backing of the Federal Government and some governors for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Adeleke made the statement on Tuesday during the Arise Townhall Meeting, where he described himself as a “bulldozer” capable of facing the political influence being deployed against his re-election bid.

The governor said he was not worried about support for his opponent from some governors or about what he described as federal influence in the election.

Adeleke said the governors supporting the APC candidate were his friends and argued that their presence in Osun would not determine the election’s outcome because they were not registered voters in the state.

He expressed confidence that residents of Osun would decide who governs the state, regardless of the political backing enjoyed by the candidates.

The governor also rejected claims that his administration had militarised the state, saying he did not have the authority to deploy the armed forces.

Adeleke noted that the President, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, had control over the military, stressing that he could not independently order the deployment of soldiers.

His comments came amid heightened political activity ahead of the August 15 governorship election, with the major parties stepping up campaigns and mobilisation across Osun State.

The election has generated intense competition between Adeleke and the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, as both camps seek to secure the support of voters across the state.
