The Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State, Abdulrahman Buba Zaune, has resigned from the party, fuelling speculation that he may be preparing to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Zaune announced his resignation in a letter dated August 5, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the ADC in Zaune Ward, Dukku Local Government Area. While he confirmed his decision to leave the party, he did not state the reason for his resignation or reveal his next political destination.

In the letter, the former state spokesman expressed appreciation to the ADC for giving him the opportunity to serve at different levels of the party, including the local government, state and national levels. He also wished the party well in its future activities.
Although Zaune did not indicate his next move, his resignation has generated widespread speculation within political circles that he may be considering a switch to the APC.

The development came less than 24 hours after the APC governorship candidate in Gombe State, Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, visited Dukku Local Government Area, Zaune’s home constituency, as part of his political consultations.

Zaune’s departure also follows the recent resignation of the ADC State Secretary, Ahmed Gana, who left the party and later joined the APC, where he declared support for Gwamna’s governorship ambition.
