PFIPC: Reps Declare Adeyemi’s Appointment Letter Fake

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the activities of the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has declared the appointment letter presented by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the council’s Director-General, as fake.

The committee made the declaration on Wednesday during the continuation of its investigative hearing in Abuja.

Chairman of the committee, Yusuf Gagdi, said findings from the investigation showed that the appointment letter submitted by Adeyemi was not genuine.

He also disclosed that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who appeared before the committee for the second time, confirmed that the documents presented by Adeyemi were not authentic.

According to Gagdi, investigations further revealed that the law relied upon by Adeyemi to justify the establishment and operation of the council was also forged.

The committee said the findings were supported by information obtained from relevant government agencies during the course of the investigation.

Walson-Jack appeared before the lawmakers in compliance with an earlier summons to provide additional clarification on issues relating to the matter.

Also present at the hearing were Deputy Commissioner of Police Olufemi Akinola and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi, who represented the Inspector-General of Police.

However, Adeyemi was absent from Wednesday’s proceedings despite the committee’s directive for him to appear.

Earlier in the week, the committee described the creation and operation of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council as a serious violation of established procedures.

The lawmakers subsequently directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce Adeyemi before the committee within 48 hours as investigations into the matter continue.
