Adeleke, Accord Leadership Announces 2027 Presidential Candidate

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the national leadership of the Accord Party have adopted President Bola Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The decision followed a meeting held on Saturday night in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, involving Governor Adeleke and top officials of the Accord Party.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesperson for Adeleke’s re-election campaign.

According to the statement, the meeting focused on key political and party matters, including preparations for future elections and the direction of the party at the national level.

During the discussions, the party’s leadership agreed that President Tinubu should continue in office beyond his current term to complete major infrastructure projects already underway across the country.

Among the projects mentioned were the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, which the party said should be completed under the present administration.

The meeting also examined preparations for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.

Party leaders appealed for a peaceful electoral process and cautioned against violence, voter intimidation, election manipulation and the deployment of security agencies in a manner that could affect members of the Accord Party during the poll.

The gathering was attended by members of the party’s National Working Committee and state chairmen from across the federation.

Those present included the National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem; Deputy National Chairman, Maryam Sale; National Secretary, Ajaja Abiola Adebukola; National Treasurer, Abdulazeez Oyeniyi Salaudeen; National Organising Secretary, Ibe Thankgod; and National Publicity Secretary, Omorogbe Joseph, among other party officials.

The meeting forms part of ongoing political consultations ahead of the 2027 general election and the Osun governorship poll.
