The BTO Renewed Hope Group has dismissed allegations linking the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to the internal crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State following the party’s National Assembly primaries.

The group reacted to claims made by a former Ondo State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr Razak Obe, who accused the minister of being responsible for the disagreements that followed the emergence of candidates for the 2027 National Assembly elections.

In a statement issued by its Secretary, Mr Tobi Olalekan, the group described the allegation as “categorically false.” It maintained that Tunji-Ojo has no authority or constitutional role in deciding who becomes the party’s candidate for National Assembly elections.

According to the group, disagreements after party primaries are common in political parties and should not be used as a basis for making accusations against individuals who have no direct involvement in the process.

It argued that linking the Minister of Interior to the submission of candidates’ names amounts to questioning the credibility and integrity of members of the APC National Working Committee, who are responsible for handling such matters.
The group stated that Tunji-Ojo is not a member of the National Working Committee and therefore has no power to influence or direct its decisions regarding the selection or submission of candidates for legislative elections.
It also questioned the basis of Obe’s claims, noting that he neither purchased nomination forms nor contested in the National Assembly primaries. According to the group, individuals who actually participated in the exercise are in a better position to raise concerns about the process.
The BTO Renewed Hope Group further accused Obe of making unfounded allegations capable of creating unnecessary tension within the Ondo State chapter of the APC. It urged political actors to avoid spreading claims that could deepen divisions within the party as it prepares for future elections.
