The governor said the deployment of additional troops and military equipment would improve ongoing operations against banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and other criminal activities affecting parts of the state.

He also expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for quickly processing the state’s request for increased military presence. AbdulRazaq said the prompt response from the Army leadership made it possible for the approval to be granted without unnecessary delay.

The governor further acknowledged the support of the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their continued efforts in tackling terrorism, banditry and violent crimes.

AbdulRazaq thanked President Tinubu for approving the request, stating that the move fulfilled another commitment made to the people of Kwara State. He expressed confidence that the new battalion would strengthen counter-terrorism and anti-kidnapping operations across different parts of the state.

He also noted that security agencies are carrying out coordinated operations behind the scenes to eliminate criminal groups hiding in forests, rescue kidnapped victims and improve safety for residents.

The governor said the combined efforts of the military and other security agencies would help restore peace and improve security across Kwara State.
