The AGM was held in a hybrid format at the NESG Summit House in Lagos, with participants attending both physically and virtually. During the meeting, members reviewed the organisation’s activities and examined its financial performance for the year that ended on December 31, 2025. The session was attended by board members, auditors, company secretaries and other stakeholders.
Chairman of the NESG Board, Niyi Yusuf, commended the board, management and members for their commitment to the organisation despite the country’s economic and policy challenges. He encouraged stakeholders to continue supporting the group’s efforts to promote sustainable economic growth through research-based policy recommendations and stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors.
During the meeting, members considered and approved the organisation’s audited financial statements, as well as the reports presented by the Board of Directors and the Independent Auditors for the 2025 financial year.
The AGM also approved the reappointment of PKF Professional Services as the organisation’s external auditors for the new financial year. Members further authorised the Board of Directors to determine the firm’s remuneration.
Changes to the composition of the board also formed part of the meeting. Members recognised the retirement of Wonu Adetayo and Frank Aigbogun, who chose not to seek another term after serving the organisation for more than 15 years. The meeting acknowledged their contributions to the growth and development of the NESG over the years.
The AGM approved the re-election of Dr Philip Mshelbila, Dr Juliet Ehimuan, Wasim El-Husseini, Segun Ogunsanya, Mohamad Darwish, Demola Sogunle and Abubakar Suleiman to continue serving as directors.
Members also confirmed the appointments of Dr Owen Omogiafo, Rohan D’Souza and Surrayah Ahmad, who had earlier been appointed by the board to fill vacant positions.
The organisation said the combination of returning and newly appointed directors would strengthen the board by bringing together professionals with experience across different sectors, while supporting effective corporate governance and strategic leadership.
At the close of the meeting, the board, management and members renewed their commitment to working closely with government institutions and private sector stakeholders to develop practical policy recommendations, encourage reforms and improve public-private cooperation.
The NESG also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting fresh policy ideas and building strategic partnerships aimed at improving Nigeria’s economic competitiveness, strengthening resilience, supporting inclusive growth and advancing sustainable national development.
