The announcement followed the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday after the swearing-in of two new commissioners and a special assistant.

The new commissioners, Professor Omari Omaka and Hon. Sylvester Nwenu Nwite, were assigned to the Ministries of Tertiary Education and Environment respectively.

Several other commissioners were also moved to different portfolios, while Felix Onyekachi Njoku was inaugurated as Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation.

Governor Nwifuru directed all affected officials to complete the handover process by the close of work on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

He also retained a number of commissioners in their current ministries to ensure continuity in government programmes.

The government said the reshuffle was not linked to poor performance but was aimed at placing officials where their experience would be more useful.

It added that the Ministry of Aviation remains active and will continue to operate under a Permanent Secretary until further notice.
