Asogwa secured 162,360 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Nestor Ezeme, who finished with 9,299 votes.
The election was conducted to fill the vacancy left after the death of Senator Okey Ezea in November 2025.
The result was announced in Nsukka by the Returning Officer, Professor Christian Ezeibe of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, who confirmed that the APC candidate met all legal requirements to be returned elected.
A total of 727,340 voters were registered, while 184,094 were accredited for the exercise.
Other candidates trailed far behind, with the African Democratic Party, Boot Party, Labour Party, Nigerian Democratic Congress and Peoples Redemption Party all recording lower vote totals.
Asogwa said the outcome reflected strong backing from voters across the senatorial district and promised effective representation in office.
