Bandits Triggers New Fear In Kwara

Residents of several communities in Kwara South have been placed on alert after intelligence reports revealed that suspected terrorists fleeing neighbouring Kogi State are moving into parts of the region.

The development followed the killing of notorious gang leader Kachalla Ibrahim Battijo during a recent security operation.

Security sources said members of Battijo’s group have begun relocating to communities in Ifelodun, Isin and Ekiti Local Government Areas.

Authorities fear the armed men may be attempting to regroup and establish new hideouts after losing their commander.

The reports also suggest that the fleeing terrorists could be planning revenge attacks, including kidnappings and assaults on local communities.

Security agencies and vigilante groups have been urged to strengthen surveillance and increase intelligence gathering to prevent fresh violence.

The warning comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in Kwara South, where Battijo’s network was linked to several attacks across communities such as Babanla, Oke-Ode, Oreke, Sebe and Omugo.

Residents have been advised to remain vigilant as security forces work to stop the movement of the armed groups and prevent further attacks.
