A civil society organisation has called on the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu to stop granting amnesty to ex-Boko Haram fighters and other individuals linked to terrorism, saying recent reintegration efforts lack accountability.

The group made the appeal on Monday while reacting to insecurity in parts of the country.

The organisation, Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and Other Security Agencies, said many former fighters have been reintegrated in the North-East, especially Borno State, without proper checks or justice for victims.

It warned that such moves could weaken public trust in the justice system.

The group also reacted to the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Information, who died while in captivity after being abducted alongside his wife in Katsina State.

It described the incident as painful and called for stronger action against banditry and kidnapping.

It urged authorities to ensure those responsible for the abduction and death are tracked down and prosecuted.

While supporting rehabilitation programmes, the group insisted that accountability and public safety must remain central in handling cases involving former insurgents.
