The development comes days after the claims triggered a legal battle between both men.
Okonkwo maintained that House of Representatives and Senate aspirants in the South-East were asked to make payments during the party’s nomination process.
He said the conversations and information he received from an aspirant formed the basis of his allegations.
The controversy intensified after Obi, through his legal team, demanded ₦5 billion in damages and a public apology over the claims.
The former Anambra State governor also signalled his readiness to pursue further legal action if the demands were not met.
Despite the lawsuit, Okonkwo insisted he would stand by his position and defend his claims.
The former allies, who parted ways after Obi moved from ADC to NDC, now appear set for a prolonged legal and political confrontation.
