An APC chieftain in Ogun State, Bolaji Adeniji, has brushed aside the resignation of former senator Iyabo Obasanjo from the ruling party, insisting that her departure will not affect the party’s chances in the 2027 governorship election.

He said the APC remains united and focused on retaining power in the state.

Speaking in Abeokuta on Wednesday, Adeniji argued that Obasanjo’s exit came after she failed to secure the party’s governorship ticket.

He maintained that she had little influence on the party’s structure and electoral strength in Ogun State.
The APC leader also defended the emergence of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the party’s governorship candidate.
He described the primary election as peaceful and widely accepted, saying the senator enjoyed strong backing from party leaders and stakeholders across the state.
Adeniji expressed confidence that the APC would remain victorious in 2027, urging members to stay united.
He also dismissed concerns over opposition challenges, insisting that Yayi’s popularity and political record place him in a strong position ahead of the election.
