National Assembly Summons Ribadu Over Rising Insecurity

The House of Representatives has summoned National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and the country’s service chiefs over the worsening security crisis across Nigeria.

The decision followed concerns over rising killings, kidnappings, bandit attacks and terrorism in several parts of the country.

The resolution was adopted during plenary after a motion presented by Sulaiman Gumi.

Lawmakers said persistent attacks and abductions continue despite repeated assurances from security agencies and the Federal Government.

The move comes amid growing concern over recent school attacks in Oyo and Borno states, where pupils, teachers and school staff were abducted by armed groups.

The incidents have renewed fears about the safety of schools and the return of large-scale school kidnappings.

Lawmakers are expected to demand explanations on current security measures and ongoing efforts to rescue victims still in captivity.

The session is also expected to place fresh pressure on security agencies to tackle the rising wave of violence and restore public confidence.
