Residents Flee As Gunmen Invade Ondo Community

A nine-year-old boy has been abducted after armed men attacked Igbosi Community in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The overnight assault left several residents injured and forced many villagers to flee their homes for safety. The attackers reportedly stormed the area in the early hours of Friday, firing gunshots and causing panic across the community.

The incident has renewed concerns about insecurity in rural areas of the state.

Residents said the gunmen invaded the community around 1:00 a.m., attacking homes and damaging property during the operation.

Many people escaped into nearby bushes to avoid being caught by the assailants. Several residents suffered injuries while trying to flee the violence.

Buildings and other property were also reportedly vandalised before the attackers left the area.

The abducted child, identified as Olaosebikan Victor, is the son of a well-known pastor in the community.

Reports indicate that the gunmen entered the family’s residence during the attack. His father managed to escape into the bush, but the boy was taken away by the attackers.

Another resident also escaped after armed men attempted to force their way into his home.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident and said security operatives had begun a search for the kidnappers.

Police officers and members of the Amotekun Corps were deployed to the area shortly after the report was received.

Authorities said investigations are ongoing and efforts have been intensified to rescue the child and arrest those behind the attack. Residents have been urged to provide useful information that could assist the operation.
