ADC Picks Kachikwu As Sole Candidate
A faction of the African Democratic Congress has adopted Dumebi Kachikwu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The decision was announced on Sunday during the group’s national convention held in Abuja.
Delegates at the gathering also elected new members of the faction’s National Working Committee.
Abdulkadir Mohammed Bashir emerged as National Chairman and later presented the party flag to Kachikwu ahead of the coming elections.
The convention produced other party officials from different parts of the country, including Kingsley Oggah as Board of Trustees Chairman and Johnny Tovie Derek as Deputy National Chairman.
Party leaders described Kachikwu as the figure chosen to lead the faction into 2027.
The development has added fresh tension to the growing leadership battle within the ADC.
Another faction led by former Senate President David Mark had earlier held a separate convention in Abuja, where Mark emerged as National Chairman with support from opposition politicians, including Atiku Abubakar.
