NCAA Blacklists 11 Airlines Over Debts

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has directed its offices across the country to stop providing regulatory services to 11 domestic airlines over unpaid debts.

The decision affected major operators, including Air Peace, Ibom Air, Arik Air and United Nigeria Airlines.

The directive followed an internal memo issued on May 22, 2026, ordering a strict “No Pay No Service” policy until the affected airlines settle their outstanding financial obligations.

The action comes as domestic carriers continue to battle rising aviation fuel prices, foreign exchange problems, maintenance costs and wider financial pressure within the aviation industry.
Many operators have also faced criticism from passengers over delays, cancellations and refund complaints.
The NCAA recently warned airlines against abandoning passengers during disruptions and urged better communication with travellers.
The regulator said continued service failures could weaken confidence in Nigeria’s aviation sector at a time the government is seeking fresh investments.
