APC Announces Rivers Governorship Candidate
The All Progressives Congress has announced Kingsley Chinda as its governorship candidate for Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The declaration was made after the party completed its primary election in Port Harcourt.
The chairman of the primary election committee and returning officer, Bitrus Kwamoti, announced the result at the APC secretariat in the state capital.
He confirmed that collation was done across the 23 local government areas before the final declaration.
Kwamoti said Chinda emerged as the sole aspirant in the exercise and secured all the votes cast, giving him a total of 268,497 votes.
He added that the process followed the party’s guidelines and constitution.
The Rivers APC primary has drawn attention due to ongoing political tensions in the state and internal party alignments ahead of 2027.
The development comes amid speculation surrounding other key political figures in the state.
