Tinubu Names New Security Adviser

President Bola Tinubu has appointed retired Major General Adeyinka Famadewa as Special Adviser on Homeland Security, creating the position for the first time at the federal level.

The appointment comes as the government faces growing pressure over insecurity across different parts of the country.

The new office is expected to focus on internal security coordination, intelligence sharing and the protection of critical national assets.

Famadewa will work closely with security agencies and the Presidency on domestic security matters.

The retired military officer previously served in different command positions during his years in the Nigerian Army.

His appointment is seen as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s security structure ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Presidency believes the new role will improve coordination in tackling terrorism, kidnapping and other security threats.

The move also adds another layer to Tinubu’s security team as concerns over attacks and criminal activities continue nationwide.
