The state government said the development was considered damaging to the integrity and image of the traditional institution.

Oba Oloyede had served as the traditional ruler of Ipetumodu before the controversy surrounding his legal troubles abroad.

His removal has stirred reactions within the community and among traditional leaders in Osun State.

Authorities are expected to begin processes leading to the selection of a new monarch for the town in line with traditional procedures and state laws.
