The exercise also featured the screening of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s lone challenger, Stanley Osifo, alongside more than 14 governors seeking fresh mandates or other positions.

The APC said governors with official state duties were allowed to miss the exercise temporarily, adding that fresh slots would be provided within the approved timetable.

Party officials screened governors from Kano, Plateau, Benue, Delta, Niger, Sokoto and several other states as preparations for the party primaries continued in Abuja.

Fubara’s absence has added fresh uncertainty to the political situation in Rivers State amid his long-running feud with former governor and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Reports claimed allies purchased APC nomination forms for the governor through a proxy, although it remains unclear if the forms were officially submitted on his behalf.

Meanwhile, Stanley Osifo insisted he would remain in the presidential race despite the APC leadership’s backing for Tinubu.

The aspirant described the screening as tough but fair, while other contenders called for transparent primaries as internal competition heats up ahead of the 2027 polls.
