Speaker Abbas Launches Fifth Term Bid
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has declared his bid for a fifth term in the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 elections.
The announcement was made during a massive rally in Zaria, Kaduna State, where thousands of supporters joined a solidarity march before the official declaration ceremony.
The lawmaker said his decision was based on what he described as years of visible development projects and legislative work in Zaria Federal Constituency.
He pointed to road projects, support for farmers and traders, student scholarships, healthcare centres and youth empowerment programmes as part of his achievements since entering the House in 2011.
Abbas also defended his record as Speaker, saying the House under his leadership had processed over 2,000 bills within two years, with many already signed into law.
He added that the National Assembly had pushed reforms in education, security and the economy while recovering billions of naira through oversight activities.
The Speaker urged constituents to support his return, arguing that continuity would help attract more projects and opportunities to the constituency.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for their leadership and ongoing reforms.
