He used the meeting at the party secretariat to formally inform leaders of his ambition. He also made it clear he would not accept any attempt to impose a candidate.

He said he believes he can win both the party ticket and the main election. The visit, he explained, was part of efforts to stay loyal to the party while pushing his vision for the state.

His move follows reports that some party figures are backing Senator Sharafadeen Alli as a preferred option for the race.

Adelabu’s camp rejected that endorsement, warning it could divide the party. He recently stepped down from his role under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to focus fully on his ambition.

In his resignation, he expressed appreciation for the chance to serve and contribute to reforms in the power sector.

Addressing party leaders, Adelabu insisted that any candidate must emerge through proper process involving all stakeholders.

He promised inclusive governance and development across Oyo if elected. Party chairman Moses Adeyemo praised his approach, describing him as committed and capable of leading the party to victory.
