Leaders of the African Democratic Congress are weighing a possible move to the National Democratic Congress ahead of 2027, with Peter Obi at the centre of the talks.

The shift follows rising tension within the party and uncertainty after a recent Supreme Court ruling that left key leadership issues unresolved.

The court ruling removed earlier restrictions on figures like David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola but sent the main dispute back to the Federal High Court.

With the case still pending, party insiders fear the outcome could disrupt its structure at a critical time before the next election cycle.

Sources say Obi and his allies are uneasy over internal arrangements, including claims the party favours a single aspirant and may not zone its presidential ticket to the South.

Talks with the NDC have reportedly opened the door to a possible switch, with plans said to be taking shape in the coming days.

Despite the reports, ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi said he was unaware of any planned defection.

Still, movements within opposition ranks continue, as former Aishatu Binani recently joined the NDC, adding to signs of shifting alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.
