ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi said the governor’s remarks were meant as a warning about threats to democracy.

He argued that only those attempting to manipulate elections or suppress opposition should be worried about such statements.

The party maintained that references to history are meant to caution leaders and prevent instability, not to incite violence.

It insisted that open political space and fair elections should remain the focus ahead of future polls.

The APC had earlier condemned the remarks, describing them as dangerous and capable of stirring unrest.

The ruling party urged security agencies to take the issue seriously, saying political leaders must avoid statements that could threaten peace and stability.
