Wike Calls For Unity In PDP

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday appealed to aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party to return, assuring them they would not lose their entitlements.

Speaking at the party’s 108th National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, he said many members left due to uncertainty and a search for political stability.

He urged the leadership to act quickly to heal divisions within the party.

He said “Chairman and your team should put in place a strong committee to reach out to those who are aggrieved.

There is room for them to come back, and whatever is due to them will still be given,” stressing the need for reconciliation.

According to him, internal conflicts are normal but must be resolved quickly to avoid weakening the party ahead of future elections.

Wike maintained his loyalty to the PDP, saying he has no plans to leave despite ongoing tensions. He said “I have been a member of this party since 1998 and I will not leave.

Whatever happens, we will continue to live as members of the PDP,” adding that openness and engagement would help rebuild trust and bring back those who left.

Earlier, party leaders signalled a new direction, with the national chairman promising adherence to electoral laws and transparent congresses.

The Board of Trustees also called for unity, discipline, and respect for party rules, noting that reforms like e-registration would strengthen internal processes and prepare the party for future elections.
