A fresh security alert has emerged in Abuja and Niger State as terrorists are said to be planning attacks on major facilities.

The warning, linked to a memo by the Nigeria Customs Service, points to possible strikes on an airport and detention centres, raising fears of a coordinated operation.

Reports indicate that targets include the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, a correctional facility in Abuja, and a military detention centre in Niger State.

Security agencies have reportedly gone on alert following intelligence suggesting a plan to free detained fighters and damage key infrastructure.

The alert draws parallels with a recent attack in Niamey, where an air force base was hit earlier in the year.

Analysts believe the pattern points to an attempt to repeat similar strikes within Nigeria, especially on aviation and security sites.

The development comes shortly after the US State Department issued a travel advisory allowing some staff to leave Abuja.

Nigerian authorities, however, described the move as precautionary, even as security vigilance increases across the affected areas.
