The protesters demanded direct primaries instead of a single consensus arrangement, saying party members should be allowed to choose their candidate freely.

They carried placards with messages rejecting imposition and calling for fair competition within the party.

Speaking for the group, Tajudeen Adeleye said the protest was aimed at protecting internal democracy and improving representation.

He argued that the constituency had not been well represented in recent years and insisted that only a competitive primary could produce a credible candidate.

The youths appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji and party leaders to ensure fairness in the process while supporting the governor’s re-election bid.

The protest adds to ongoing tensions within the party over candidate selection ahead of the 2027 general elections.
