The Vice-Chancellor, Babatola Ayodele, disclosed this in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, stating that the updated pay was reflected in March 2026 salaries.

The move follows the January 2026 agreement between the Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities, which introduced a 40 per cent increase.

The development came after a long-running dispute tied to the 2009 agreement, which lasted about 16 years.

University management said the decision was backed by the Ekiti State Government and the institution’s governing council, ensuring smooth implementation.

The administration also signalled readiness to extend similar benefits to non-teaching staff once approved.

The Vice-Chancellor said the change was made to improve staff welfare and strengthen academic delivery.

He credited the support of the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for creating a stable academic environment that has helped the university maintain its calendar and expand programmes.

Management also pointed to recent gains such as new faculties, research grants, and student achievements, while seeking more support for infrastructure and funding.
