ADC Fights INEC Decision On Leadership

The African Democratic Congress has opposed a decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission to withdraw recognition of the leadership led by David Mark.

The dispute follows INEC’s announcement that it will not deal with any faction of the party for now.

The commission said its action came after reviewing a Court of Appeal ruling and an ongoing case before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

It also stated that it would not monitor the party’s planned national convention scheduled for April 14.
INEC explained that it would suspend all engagement with the party’s factions until the court delivers a final decision.
The move was also linked to conflicting submissions received from different legal representatives within the party.
In response, ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi rejected the commission’s position and accused it of acting under pressure.
He said the party is reviewing legal steps to challenge the decision and urged members to remain calm.
