Plateau Gov Imposes curfew, Vows Justice For Victims

In Jos, the Plateau State government has declared a 48-hour curfew after an attack in Angwan Rukuba left 26 people dead and several others injured.

Authorities say the move is to prevent further violence from spreading.

Gunmen on motorcycles reportedly stormed the area on Sunday night, firing at residents for about 30 minutes before fleeing.

Security agencies have since launched a manhunt, with officials saying efforts are underway to arrest those responsible.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang visited the community, assuring residents that justice would be served. He also promised support for victims receiving treatment and for families of those killed.

The attack has triggered outrage, with groups and residents calling for stronger security measures.

The University of Jos has postponed examinations and issued a safety advisory following the incident.

Religious bodies including the Christian Association of Nigeria and Jama’atu Nasril Islam condemned the killings, urging calm while demanding swift action from authorities.
