Nigerians May Seek Constitutional Amendment For Tinubu – Oluwo

In Nigeria, the Oluwo of Iwo, Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has said some Nigerians may push for a constitutional amendment to allow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to seek a third term in office.

The monarch made the remark while marking Tinubu’s 74th birthday, describing him as a decisive leader whose policies are beginning to reshape the country’s economy.

He pointed to improvements in foreign reserves and the naira, attributing the gains to reforms such as exchange rate changes, increased oil production, and rising foreign investment.

The traditional ruler also praised steps taken by the administration on local government autonomy, increased allocations to states, and ongoing infrastructure projects across the country.

He said past leaders struggled to carry out similar reforms due to pressure, but Tinubu has stayed firm on key decisions.

According to him, the next phase of governance should focus on stabilising the economy and sustaining current progress.

The comments come amid growing political discussions ahead of the 2027 elections, though any move toward a third term would require major constitutional changes.
